Lorraine Marie Van Asten, 88

Lorraine Marie Van Asten, 88 passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021.

She was born in Stevens Point on Feb. 27, 1933, and graduated from St. Joseph Academy for girls in Stevens Point.

After meeting the love of her life on a blind date, Lorraine & Howard were married on May 21, 1952.
She worked with Howard at their Family Business Van’s Floor Covering established in 1959.

Lorraine then worked at First Financial Bank for 15 years before her retirement.

Lorraine loved to sing and was a Charter Member of Sweet Adeline’s since 1975 and joined a quartet where they sang at many competitions from 1977-2012.

Lorraine and Howard were passionate about polka dancing and camping and would travel in their Camper to many polka fests around Wisconsin.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard and her brother, Ervin Pleet.

She is survived by her daughter Barb Alberts (Rod – deceased) Sidney, Neb., and Bruce (Elizabeth), Stevens Point; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you will always be in our heart and at our side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021, at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St. in Stevens Point.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday morning. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
