Lorraine M. Glodowski, 89

Lorraine M. Glodowski, 89, of Stevens Point, died at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital, peacefully with family at her side on Thursday, May 2, 2019.  

Lorraine was born December 21, 1929, in the town of Sharon to the late Andrew and Stacia (Bronk) Kluck. She attended Madison School (a one-room Town of Sharon elementary school where she learned to speak English), St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau.  

As a registered nurse, she was employed at St. Michael’s Hospital for over 40 years in many nursing roles including Head Nurse of Orthopedics. She retired in 1997.

Lorraine married Leonard Glodowski on June 1, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia, Wis. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister, lector, Minister to the Homebound, and a 50-year member of the Rosary Society.  

Lorraine volunteered for Hospice of Portage County, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, and RSVP at the Department of Aging doing blood pressures at Rosholt and Amherst meal sites and at the foot clinics.   

She was an Associate of The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Faith and family were Lorraine’s loves. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, praying the rosary daily. Reading, knitting and tying fleece blankets to donate were her hobbies until her eyesight failed.  

Survivors include four children, Judie Pfiffner, Amherst, David (Brenda), Brooklyn Park, Minn., Gery (Cindy Kiepert), Plover, and Mary (Chris) Sadler, Stevens Point; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, Josef, Jessica, Adam, Ross, Stacia and Michelle; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Surviving siblings include Alice Richter, Gladys (Dave) Shafranski, Stevens Point; Rufin and Mark (Cindy) Kluck, Custer; Myron (Leann) Kluck, Canyon Lake, Cali., and sisters–in law Betty, Stevens Point, and Marie Kluck, Rosholt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Leonard, her husband; brothers Jerry (Janet), Ron and Robert Kluck; brother-in-law William Richter; and son-in-law Richard Pfiffner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorraine’s name may be made to Pacelli Catholic Schools, Sisters of St. Joseph TOSF Mother House, or St. Michael’s Foundation.  

Lorraine’s family would like to thank Dr. Munck for his years of special care, along with Dr. Huff, Dr. Jensen and the entire staff of the IMC unit at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital for their exceptional care during the last week of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Rev. Arul Joseph V. will officiate.

Burial will take place in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point, concluding with a rosary prayed at 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday morning in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church.
