Metro Wire Staff

Portage Co. branch libraries are offering free Tai Chi classes beginning Sept. 11.

Tai chi teaches participants ways to improve their overall mind, body, and spirit through a series of slow, continuous movements that promote balance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and strength. Designed for people of all levels of health, Tai chi is considered a meditative therapy which may reduce depression and help people focus and sleep better.

Classes for beginners start Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. and lasts about 40 minutes at branch locations in Plover, 2151 Roosevelt Dr., and Rosholt, 137 N. Main St.
