Library to host Packer historian, author

The Portage Co. Library is hosting a special presentation on the first century of the Green Bay Packers organization.

The program will feature Packer history and author Jim Rice, who’s written several books about the team, and also operates a website on the organization’s history.

Rice’s presentation will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the downtown branch of the library.

According to a news release from the Library Director Larry Oathout, Rice has memorabilia, photos, and stories about the Packers dating back to 1919.

Rice reportedly rediscovered his love of football after the Packers won Super Bowl XLV in 2010, Oathout said.

“After completing his first book, Jim has been writing and speaking about Packer history ever since,” his press release reads in part.

The program will be held in the Pinery Room and is free to the public.

Prizes will be awarded for the best Packer outfit, Oathout said.

The downtown branch is located at 1001 Main St.
