Library to host discussion on role of media

The downtown library is hosting a presentation in November about the role of media in a democracy.

“The Role of Media in a Healthy Democracy” will be featured in the Pinery Room of the library, 1001 Main St., on Nov. 12, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The presentation will be given by Saemyi Park, an assistant professor of political science at UW-Stevens Point, and is sponsored by the UWSP College of Letters and Science.

The talk will help attendees understand the critical roles of media in our society by examining media effects and media biases.

Park’s presentation will answer questions like, “What kinds of media outlets do we use as an information source?” and, “How does the media influence public opinion?”

The presentation is free and open to the public.
