Library to hold StoryWalk events through August

Metro Wire Staff

The Portage County Public Library is offering four StoryWalk events, one at each of its four branches, throughout August.

These free, social-distancing-friendly activities involve children’s picture books being laminated and placed in downtown-area windows or attached to staked signs along an outdoor walking path near each of the four branch library locations.

“StoryWalk is a wonderful way for adults and their young children or grandchildren to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise as they walk to each of the reading stations while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors,” reads a press release from the library. “The activity combines exercise and reading to further enhance health and literacy in children and adults.”

Participants are asked to use the phone number provided at the end of each StoryWalk to provide feedback and participation numbers.

The library’s StoryWalk partners include the Stevens Point Area School District and many Rosholt and Almond area businesses.

The Portage County Public Library has branches in Stevens Point, Plover, Rosholt, and Almond. For more information, such as book titles and dates, contact the Plover Library at 715-341-4007.
