Letter: Supervisor lobbies for health care center referendum
To the Editor-
In 2018 county residents overwhelmingly approved a referendum to continue operating the Portage County Health Care Center (PCHCC). As an individual, and speaking on behalf of staff and patients, we are grateful for our community’s support to continue providing care to local residents.
On Tuesday, April 5, we’re asking county residents to invest in replacing and operating a new facility. If approved, the new 57,000 square foot space would provide 32 beds in our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and eight beds in our Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF). This combination of a traditional SNF area and a CBRF area complements the local market and allows us to bridge the health care gap present in our local community.
Spaces for physical and occupational therapy rehabilitation, offices, conference rooms, dining areas, gathering spaces, and other services round out the design. The new facility will allow for an expanded suite of services for our residents with right-sized physical spaces and efficient operations.
I encourage you to visit our website, OurHealthOurCareOurFuture.com. There you’ll find information about the plan, the cost, and other details. Please visit our website and don’t forget to make your voice heard on or before Tuesday, April 5.
