Letter: Sheriff endorses Holman for county exec

To the Editor-

I’m honored to send this letter as my endorsement for Chris Holman’s re-election as Portage County Executive.

It is very clear to me and most, if not all, of those who work with Chris that he is smart, dedicated, and effective. The extent to which he reads the fine print and leans into the details of the issues we face across the county and in the county organization itself is impressive.

While we have not always agreed on everything during the course of his term, I’ve appreciated his openness to new ideas, how he listens to all parties, and how he’s driven to arrive at a decision that everyone can see their fingerprints on and support.

This alone has had a positive impact on the county and its operations.

It has also earned him a lot of respect, as his approach to leadership recognizes and elevates the knowledge and expertise of those he works with across the county organization.

He lets the experts in their respective fields do their jobs and whatever it is needed, he’s there to provide leadership and direction.

His work ethic and accessibility have been especially key during the last two years of the pandemic, and his ability to help the county navigate the challenges it has presented, in addition to everything else he does for Portage County, makes him stand out as uniquely qualified for this position.

Government works best when we’re working together, and we need his leadership, integrity, and drive in our community. Vote for Christ Holman on Feb. 15 in the primary and again on April 5. He has my support and as someone who has worked closely with him for four years, I’m confident in saying that he deserves yours.
