Letter: Referendum to slow roadwork, require numerous public votes

To the Editor-

Do potholes have anything to do with Stevens Point’s August referendum? Mr. Flatoff says no, but think about it.

If that referendum passes, every road project over $1 million (most road projects), would be delayed until a referendum is put on the ballot for voters’ approval.

The result would be a virtual halt to significant road work, and multiple referendum items for each election (one for each project on the table). Are you really ready to research all the engineering details of each and every one?

Never fear. Mr. Flatoff will tell us which projects he wants done, and which to pan.

If this referendum passes, it would throw a monkey wrench into Stevens Point’s roadwork. And the result would be, you guessed it, more little pothole patches, and you know how long those last.

So if you don’t like potholes, vote NO on August 9.
