Letter: Reader offers ideas to reorganize local elected offices
To the Editor-
Same ol’, same ol’! Is it a good idea to elect more of the same kind of fake leaders who are unable to represent the citizens, follow the constitution, protect the basic rights of citizens, and maintain separation of powers?
For example, on December 20, 2021, 10 out of 11 alderpersons told District 6 Alderman Jeremy Slowinski and the citizens of Stevens Point that they would not approve the Business 51 referendum proposal for the spring election, and District 2 Alderman David Shorr underlined it with, “Go get your signatures”.
We the people reject any unwillingness to uphold the constitution or the will of the people. These false leaders present a negative paradigm shift from a constitutional republic to a socialist/communist government which can not be tolerated.
Portage County, Wisconsin is a constitutional republic. Our objectives should be:
To end nepotism. Eliminate the practice of appointing more than one member of a family, law firm, university, taxi cab company, etc.
To stop candidates from holding multiple government positions simultaneously. Tony Patton, Mayor Mike Wiza, and Meleesa Johnson each were alderperson and County Board Supervisor at the same time. To balance the diversity of candidate backgrounds. Presently, half of the Portage County, Wisconsin supervisors are professors, spouses, and their friends of UWSP. Presently, nine out of 11 alderpersons of the City Council are professors, spouses, and their friends of UWSP.
To end running unopposed. This plan is activated when a candidate is running unopposed on election day. It is fair for voters to have a choice of two candidates, therefore, districts offering a lone candidate deserve to forfeit their representation until the next election.
To require candidates to live, own property, and pay taxes in the district they represent. Meleesa Johnson and Keely Fishler are renters in Stevens Point and do not pay property taxes. California Senator Maxine Waters lives in one district and represents another.
To require candidates to live in Portage County for three years before running for office.
To require candidates to reveal their organizational memberships. Lions Club, Elks Club, KKK, socialist party, Communist party, etc.
To require candidates to declare wages earned as a paid demonstrator and rioter.
To require candidates to declare wages paid to them by foreign and domestic enemies.
To require candidates to acknowledge the constitution as the supreme law of the land above Sharia Law, etc.
To require candidates to be native-born or naturalized citizens. No illegal aliens can hold office.
To require candidates to be 25 years old. The human brain is not fully developed until the mid-to-late 20s.
Who brings back our constitutional republic? We the people think, speak, write, vote, knock on doors, support patriotic leaders, run for office, give money until it hurts, and then give more! America lives in our hearts, not in the fog of ivory towers swirling in theories, speculation, drama, and fantasy. We the people hear the call of our city, county, state, and country.
