Letter: Raabe’s extensive experience right for school board
To the Editor-
It is my pleasure to support Dennis Raabe for Stevens Point School Board.
Dennis has extensive experience serving young people, educators, parents, and community members as a teacher, principal, and district administrator. He has worked with a wide array of boards, including school board, as a member of the Plover Village Board, and the Portage Co. Board of Supervisors. His 44 years of service to public schools is great than all the other candidates combined.
In addition, Dennis has had formal training in areas that will make him an asset on the school board. He has a bachelor’s in Education, a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, and a special degree in School Administration. He had direct experience in policy development, program development, school finance, staff development, and dealing with daily challenges faced by educational systems.
Dennis has built a career on being an advocate for those he serves. He is willing to speak up for doing what is right to better serve young people. He is known as someone who will listen to all viewpoints, seek common ground, problem-solve, and do something whose sole objective is to improve the quality of service provided to scholars and families.
Deniss has served the Stevens Point School District for 25 years, serving as principal of Roosevelt, Jackson, Madison, ad McDill elementary schools. He is familiar with the history of the district, those who have served it, and the current challenges faced by the district.
If elected, Dennis will be a voice of experience and expertise on the Board. He will be an advocate of our educators and the students they serve. He will be a voice of reason, a collaborator, and someone who can be trusted to do what is best for young people, our educators, and our community.
I would also like to ask for your support of our three incumbents, Barb Portzen, Rob Manzke, and Jeff Ebel. They are each strong supporters of our public schools that have had to make tough decisions during the past several years, decisions which were not popular with all. One thing they all have in common is that they understand their roles as Board members, they have demonstrated that they value public education, and they have served to better our system as opposed to trying to achieve agendas that represent their personal values.
Please join me in voting for Dennis Raabe on our three incumbents on April 5.
