Letter: Plover needs to communicate better on sidewalks, swales

To the Editor-

Lois Precourt’s letter to the editor (Sept. 18, “Resident questions councilwoman’s ethics“) was wonderful.

We have the same issue in the village of Plover. The village is adding sidewalks on Washington and Willow going down to Willow from Roosevelt Elementary School. The Heritage Park is hoping that the sidewalk would be on their property for the tourists and locals coming to visit them. Sad it is not happening.

The village decided to put a sidewalk on the opposite side or across on our property on the southside of Willow Street.

I asked the village so why can’t they keep it on the north side next to the Heritage Park to help visitors, tourism and physically-challenged folks visiting the park. That it’s a safety issue and they said that it was better for them on the south side of Willow. Let hope no accidents happen.

We had no notice of hearings or meetings prior to getting a letter from them and the flags placed on our property for this project.

Our parents passed away and we took over the property, but we live out of state.

I agree notice should be sent to all affected property owners to help them understand the project when scheduled.

The village also in the past installed swells on our property in the outer perimeter and it was a very poor job. Our lawn looked pristine before they worked on the yard. The Village of Plover did the landscaping themselves. Now we’re stuck with this poor landscape job which I’ll have to repair it myself at my cost.

So sad, wish we knew about it before they had done this work and what meetings we could have attended to educate ourselves and ask questions.
