Letter: Gebert already has experience for county exec spot

To the Editor-

Key duties of the county executive’s position defined by state statute include coordinating all administrative functions, supervising all county department heads and preparing the annual county budget.

These are complex and important tasks in our county with 600 employees and an annual budget over $100 million.

Jami Gebert’s answers at the Feb. 8 candidate forum were informed and specific, based on knowledge gained through experience. She is the only candidate with direct experience in the key duties of the county executive.

For eight years she has worked in the executive’s office assisting in building annual budgets, coordinating the work of county departments and communicating with the county board.

Jami and I have both been members of the Rotary Club of Greater Portage County for the last 10 years. I have worked side by side with Jami on numerous local and international service projects during that time. I have seen Jami consistently demonstrate the ability to listen to all stakeholders and produce consensus solutions. This is a strength Portage County need’s moving forward.
