Letter: County should keep health care center
To the Editor-
I am writing to say I am against selling the county home.
You tell me a company can come in and pay 1.8 million for the home and they can run it plus make a profit? That doesn’t pass the smell test.
The county already owns the place and doesn’t need to make a profit and still can’t run it?
The county runs the county home into the ground and then throws up its arms and says, “It’s too expensive to fix.” Who is running the place? They should be fired.
A recent referendum passed and the people spoke. They wanted the county to keep it. You can’t ignore that.
My grandfather, grandmother, dad, aunt, uncle, and neighbors were there and got good care. Now you want future generations to be treated by some company from out of the area that changes hands every five years.
If private industry is so efficient, then let’s get rid of the highway department. They can’t live within their budget either.
