Letter: board supervisor says Holman will make ‘better decisions’

To the Editor-

Why vote for Chris Holman?

• Chris is committed to this community. He has lived, worked, and planted roots with his family’s
farm in Custer, Wis. for nearly a decade. He has connection to the land and people, and has a
developed sense of place in Portage County.

• Chris is a father, husband, son, uncle, friend, and neighbor. He is somebody we can all relate to and
count on.

• Chris has proven local, state, national, and international leadership experience throughout his life
as a member of the Wisconsin and National Farmers Union, a sergeant in the U.S. Army, a
university educator, and a farmer.

• Chris has the vision and the know-how to create alliances on a local, regional, and statewide level
to ensure that the interests of Portage County’s residents are well represented.

• Chris is an authentically independent champion of the non-partisan, which is exactly what the
non-partisan office of the executive entails.

• Chris has perspective and a vast worldview. He has traveled throughout the state, country, and
world, and understands how the complex social fabric of life makes each community unique, while
simultaneously understanding how Portage County is woven into the greater tapestry of the world
as a whole.

• Chris asks tough, thorough questions that inspire people and institutions to make better decisions.

• Chris will raise the bar in the dialogue that the government has, pushing the Board of Supervisors
to do their homework and to rise to the task of governing for and with its constituents.

• Chris has done his homework. In just five short months, he has met with county department
heads, community leaders, local businesses, and concerned citizens to learn about the successes
that make us great and struggles we face as a county.

• Chris has garnered twice as much support as any other candidate with half as much money. He has
knocked the doors, made the connections, done his due diligence to running an inclusive,
progressive, and genuinely kind campaign. He is the embodiment of a grassroots leader.

• Chris brings people to the table and gives them a voice. He is the bridge builder, the consensus
builder, the progressive mind that the people of Portage County need to make effective and
pragmatic government a reality.
