Leota Marie Kudrna, 79

Leota Marie Kudrna, of Stevens Point, passed away at home on February 4, 2023, at the age of 79.

Leota was born on February 18, 1943, in Dickinson, ND, to Antone and Leontine (Elis) Eberts. She grew up in the area, attending local schools in nearby South Heart, ND; graduating from South Heart High School in 1961.

Leota married Raymond Kudrna on February 25, 1963, in Dickinson. Leota selflessly, and happily, devoted the rest of her life to being Raymond’s wife, the mother of their four children, and eventually, a beaming grandmother for their grandchildren. In their early years of marriage, Raymond and Leota relocated to Stevens Point. For 19 years, she worked at St. Michael’s Hospital; first in admissions and then as a phlebotomist.

After retiring in 2009, Leota discovered a love for traveling and went on many senior bus trips. While she also enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting, nothing could top spending time with her family. Whether it was playing board games, card games, or doing puzzles, her family was the most important to her.

Leota is lovingly survived by her husband, Raymond; their children, Kelly (Sue) Kudrna, Sheila (Ron) Anderson, Rhonda (Ron) Stauss, and Kurt (Sue) Kudrna; four grandchildren, Savana Stauss, Kellen (Amanda) Stauss, and Nelia Stauss; and a great-granddaughter, Wren Stauss. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Keith Knopik, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Leota was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marvin, a sister, Leora Knopik, and a grandson, Joseph Stauss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Leota’s name to the Audubon Society in Stevens Point.

Leota’s family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for the care given to her, even though it was for just a short time. They would also like to thank Shuda Funeral Home for their help during a difficult time of loss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Rd., Plover. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery at a later date.
