The Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point is turning 100.

For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe, and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. Stevens Point has one of the oldest chartered clubs in the state.

The group installed a new president, Fred Kreul, for the 2022-23 year. The outgoing president is Todd Huspeni.

Under Huspeni’s presidency, the Kiwanis participated in trunk-or-treat at the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County, continued its Kiwanis Kare program for area schools, and celebrated its 25th year with its Making a Difference Award program for area sixth-grade students.

Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point has supported the community with various grants, including a $1,000 grant to the Friends of Emerson Park to develop the new green space.

The group has also supported local high school students with leadership initiatives like the Wisconsin Leadership Seminar (WILS). Kiwanis International takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty.

To learn more about the Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point, members of the public are invited to observe a meeting. The group meets at noon on Tuesdays at Peace Lutheran Ministry, 1517 Maria Dr. in Stevens Point.
