K. Clarke Crandell, 83

K. Clarke Crandell, of Stevens Point, passed away Aug. 23, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, at the age of 83.

Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of Clarke from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point.

Clarke was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Denver, Colorado; son of the late Ralph E. and Louise E. (Schaefer) Crandell. He grew up in Denver, attending local schools and participating in band and Boy Scouts. In 1960, he graduated from Denver East High School in Denver, Colorado.

Following high school, Clarke furthered his education and eventually earned his master’s degree. His career was dedicated to public safety as he was a proud firefighter for 33 years. In 1963, he married Virginia Brod and the two were blessed with 63 years together as husband and wife. Together, they welcomed two sons, Bryn and Ian. Clarke was happy to continue his enjoyment of Boy Scouts by becoming an adult leader for both his boys.

Being a firefighter, Clarke’s caring and altruistic demeanor came naturally, and these traits spilled over to other areas of his life. He was meticulous and thoughtful in everything he did. Clarke was passionate about model railroading and also enjoyed stamps and playing the saxophone. In fact, he played various saxophones and did so for local groups in central Wisconsin, which included high school musicals.

Clarke is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his sons, Bryn and Ian; a granddaughter, Michele; a grandson, Jacob; and his older brother, W. Weller Crandell.

Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Louise; a brother, Ralph F.; and a sister, Bobette.
