June Joyce Mancheski, 88

June Joyce Mancheski, age 88, of Stevens Point, passed on May 13, 2019. She was a resident at the Point Manor, Atrium Senior Living Center in Stevens Point.

June was born January 23, 1931, to the late William “Hump” and Rose (Kalpinski) Haas in Stevens Point. She attended McKinley Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1949.

After graduating, June worked for Hardware Mutual Company. She married her high school sweetheart, Clifford L. Mancheski, at St. Peter Catholic Church on August 2, 1952. They were married for 55 years until Cliff preceded her in death on September 13, 2007.

June dedicated her life to her household and family. While raising their daughter, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Stephens Elementary School, singing in the church choir, gathering donations for the American Cancer Society and leading the local Girl Scout troops.

June and her family were lifelong members of St. Stephen Catholic Parish.

During her retirement years, June enjoyed working for the City of Stevens Point at the local voting polls and later, she thoroughly enjoyed her time working at the UWSP text rental center. During this time, university staff and students became an integral part of her and Cliff’s retirement years as they participated in many of the university activities, including football and basketball games, and the university theater productions.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Szyper of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Rex (Caryn) Szyper and Shantelle Rose (Nathan) Robbel; great-granddaughter, Quinn Margaret Szyper and one great-grandson (November 2019).

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose Haas; husband, Clifford Leo; sister, Mildred Ruth Martin; and brothers-in-law, Warren Callows and Frank Martin; and son-in-law, Joseph T. Szyper.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Boston Funeral Home and concluding with a 1 p.m. service with committal rites in Forest Cemetery.

Her family wishes to offer sincere thanks to all the nurses and physicians at St. Michael’s Intermediate ICU, Staff at the Atrium’s Point Manor, especially the director in charge, Cindy Kluck, and Southern Care Hospice.
