Joshua “Josh” Michael Martin, 46
Joshua “Josh” Michael Martin, also known as “Solid,” of Waupaca, died unexpectedly following an automobile accident on Nov. 1, 2024. He was 46.
Josh was born March 27, 1978, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., the son of Mary (née Swan) Zillges and the late Michael A. Martin. At a young age, he moved to Oshkosh, where he enjoyed playing softball, spending time at Garbage Hill Skatepark, and swimming at Pollock Pool. He attended local schools and graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1997.
After high school, Josh began a career in sales, which he pursued for many years before deciding to return to college. With a goal to help others, he set his sights on becoming an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) counselor.
Beyond his career, Josh was a devoted father to his three children: Sebastian, his son with Michelle; and daughters Olivia and Harlee, his children with Kelley. He cherished time with his children and looked forward to their annual vacations with his mother, creating memories he held dear.
Josh was passionate about motorcycles and made numerous trips to Sturgis with his father and close friends. He was a founding member of the Area Code Riders (ACR) and loved working on cars, drawing, watching movies, listening to music, and mowing the lawn. Known for his loyalty and protective nature, Josh was dedicated to his close friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Sebastian Martin, Olivia (Ethan Stengel), and Harlee Martin; his mother, Mary Zillges; grandmothers, Kathleen Swan and Betty Jean Martin; sister, Tina Zillges; special friends, Rodney and Brenda Anderson and Jerry Ashley; his ACR brothers; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Josh was preceded in death by his father, Michael Martin; stepfather, Jeff Zillges; and grandfathers, Roman Swan and Harold Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward expenses for cremation and a celebration of life. A celebration of Josh’s life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, at Winkler’s Westward Ho, 4905 County Highway S, Oshkosh.
