John Wojcik, 91

John Wojcik, a lifelong resident of Stevens Point, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, just 16 days before his 92nd birthday.

Born May 25, 1932, in Stevens Point, John was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Wetta) Wojcik. He spent 33 years working for Consolidated Papers, following stints at Lullaby Furniture Factory and Dri-Gas. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his job.

On May 25, 1953, John married Janet Dachyk. They shared 70 years together until her passing on their 70th wedding anniversary in 2023. Together, they raised five children and enjoyed traveling, especially to attend polka music events.

John had a passion for the outdoors, spending his free time gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was also an avid collector and skilled handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.

John is survived by his children, Mary (Kyran) Knudtson, John (Rose) Wojcik, Jerome (Kathy) Wojcik, Sue Wojcik, and James (Tracy) Wojcik, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, and brother.

A gathering to celebrate John’s life will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., concluding with a General Rosary.
