John A Skornia, 71

Our loving husband, dad, and grandpa, John A Skornia, 71, Plover died Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Marshfield Hospital.

John was born on June 6, 1949, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Paul and Katherine (Lukasavage) Skornia.

John graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1968. He married Louise Johnson on April 19, 1980, at St. John Lutheran in Dancy, Wis. John was employed in construction his whole life through Local 804. John was known for his love of his family, his sense of humor, and teasing. He enjoyed bringing a smile to everyone’s face and enjoyed helping others. John also loved to hunt and fish. John and Louise enjoyed volunteering with Orphan Grain Train at the Beautiful Savior Packing Station.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, and their four children: Gary (Leah) Johnson, Michael and Joel Skornia, and Megan (Nikky) De Young. He is also survived by siblings, Gwen McClure, Renita Skornia, and Stephen Skornia; mother-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; sister-in-law, Audrey Bembenek; brother-in-law, Gary Bembenek; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Theodore and Frank Skornia and Linda Mikes; father-in-law, Norman Johnson; and sister-in-law, Mary Johnson.

A visitation to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Safe social practices by all guests and family will be strictly observed. Attendance is based on your comfort level. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held privately for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Orphan Grain Train.
