Johanna “Joan” Daczyk, 85
Johanna “Joan” Daczyk, of Plover, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2025, at Dimensions Living in Stevens Point. She was 85.
Joan was born May 28, 1939, in Stevens Point, the daughter of the late Stephen and Clara (née Radomski) Daczyk. The youngest of nine children, she grew up in the area and attended local schools, graduating from PJ Jacobs High School.
Following high school, Joan entered the workforce. She was employed at Sentry Insurance for 44 years, with her last position being a system workflow specialist. Joan enjoyed working second jobs as well, and worked a variety of part-time jobs, with her favorite being Lee Ayers Jewelers, which she did for 15 years.
Joan had the heart of an adventurer and was always willing to try something new. In her younger years, she enjoyed downhill and water skiing as well as curling. She was also a skilled seamstress and knitter. However, her favorite pastime was shopping. She was always on the lookout for a good deal and loved all home shopping stations. Joan also enjoyed Hallmark movies and would never turn down a dinner of Kwik Trip chicken.
Joan was an eternal optimist with a million-dollar smile. She was a great listener who always saw the good in people. Her compassionate nature expanded to animals as well. While she loved all animals, including cardinals and butterflies, she especially loved her English bulldog, Chesty. Joan’s kind spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Her sense of humor and laughter could light up a room. Joan’s loss will be felt for a long time.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, June (Norbert) Daczyk, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Dimensions Living Stevens Point and Interim Healthcare Hospice Group for the best care Joan received these last few years. Joan truly loved living there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover.
