Jerome F. Glodowski, 85

Jerome F. Glodowski, 85, formerly of Amherst, died Monday, December 26, 2022, at Edenbrook
nursing home in Wisconsin Rapids. He was under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice.

Jerome was born on October 4, 1937, in the town of Stockton to the late Stephen and Emily (Konkol) Glodowski. He attended local schools graduating from Amherst High school.

Jerome entered the service on January 22, 1957, in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on November 29, 1958, at Fort Sheridan Illinois. He was called back to active duty in 1961. He was honorably discharged on August 7, 1962, at Fort Lewis, Wash.

His marriage to Irene Suski took place on May 6, 1961, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Jerome worked at Nekoosa Port Edwards Paper Company for 36 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, the couple settled from Biron to the family home in Amherst on Adams Lake, where he continued to work as a school bus driver.

He enjoyed polka dancing, gardening, fishing, working in his garage, and attending his grandchildren’s activities, never missing a ball game or dance recital.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Glodowski. Children, Rodney (Denna) Glodowski and Roxanne (Tim) Mancl; grandchildren, Drs. Amy (Peter) Falk and Tyler (Julia) Mancl; five great-grandchildren, Evan, Eli, and Lydia Falk. Oliver and Emmett Mancl; sisters, Florence (Donny) Woyak and Rose (Ron) Ligman. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Grand Village, Edenbrook, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice for all their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jerome’s name will be established at a later date.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 3995 County Road K, Amherst. Rev. Todd Mlsna will officiate. Visitation is on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
