Janice L. Gilligan, 66
Janice L. Gilligan, 66, of Stevens Point, Wis., died Jan. 15, 2026, while under the care of hospice.
Janice was born Nov. 9, 1959, to the late Russell and Joyce nee Hulbert Gilligan in Boscobel, Wis. Janice attended St. Mary grade school and graduated from the Stevens Point Areas High School in 1978. She attended UW-Madison in 1982 and Mid-State Technical College in 1991.
She worked for the Portage County Library from 1985 to 1990; Copps Corporation from 1991 to 2002; Lands’ End from 2003 to 2004; CAP Services from 2005 to 2017; Accurate Bookkeeping and Tax from 2014 to 2015; and WRI/ARDC from 2017 to 2003.
Janice will be remembered for her quiet, witty, conscientious, proactive, and resilient persona. In her spare time, she enjoyed solving puzzles, reading, playing cards, and listening to music. Janice enjoyed remaining active within Holy Spirit Parish. She was active within numerous prayer groups, grief support groups, Place of Peace, Al-Anon TOPS, and supporting the Humane Society.
Survivors include her sisters, Catherine; brothers, Dave and James (Renee); nieces and nephews, Nathan, Ryan (Amanda), Rosa, Olivia, Savanna, Joshua, Aireus, and Chavelle; great-nieces and great-nephews, Eleanor and Aiden; extended family members; and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Elizabeth Berry and Barbara Gilligan.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish, with visitation preceding at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Traditional burial will be held in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
