Janice “Jan” R. Weaver, 85

Janice “Jan” R. Weaver, age 85, of 609 Green Avenue, Stevens Point, died December 20, 2018, after a short illness.

Jan was born on June 19, 1933, to the late Donald & Mary (McGill) Weir in Sussex, Wis. She grew up in several small towns in Iowa and graduated from Estherville High School. She earned her Bachelor’s of Music from Drake University and studied at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

She married Robert Weaver on July 5, 1958, in Estherville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2008.

Jan was an accomplished classical singer and pianist. In her early years, she taught elementary school in Baltimore, Maryland. After marriage, she dedicated her life to raising her family. As her children grew older, she taught private piano lessons.

Jan had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed time with her many grandchildren. She was an extraordinary gardener, loved plants and flowers; it was not uncommon to find Jan and Bob digging in the garden. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, music, reading, baking, camping, knitting, and puzzles. Jan was very involved in the Suzuki program accompanying the students and supporting all four children in music education. She was a longtime member of Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church where she sang in their choir.

She is survived by children, Robert Jr. (Robin Smith-Weaver) of Ettrick, WI, Nick (Mary) of Nerstrand, Minn., Laura (Dennis) Donovan of Naples, Fla., and Lynda (Matt) Wachowiak of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan (Dana), Spencer (Christy), Dylan (Sarah), Rozanna, Strauther, Isaac, Samantha (Josh), Max, Lila, Amy (Ian), Alex, Adam, and Nick. She is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Connie) Weir; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weaver Sr.; parents, Donald & Mary Weir; sister Kathleen; and grandson, Michael.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at, Boston Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Foundation, for the Janice and Robert Weaver Memorial Scholarship Fund.
