James Scott

James Scott, of Stevens Point, passed away on July 27, 2018, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.

He was a proud graduate of UW-Madison and a graduate of Garrett Theological Seminary. As an ordained minister he served United Methodist congregations throughout Wisconsin. Later in life, Jim earned his Masters of Social Work degree. He continued his ministry by helping the less fortunate through employment with social service agencies in Wisconsin, California, and Washington State.

Jim’s greatest joy in life included spending time with his family and sharing his interests with them. As an Eagle Scout, he developed a love of nature. He shared this love of nature with his family by taking them camping in Wisconsin, camping on spring vacations in the Great Smoky Mountains, and canoe camping in the Boundary Waters. Jim loved music, reading, travel, current events, and lively discussions surrounding social justice topics.

He is survived by Beverly, his wife of almost 60 years; his children, Andy (Lucy), Nancy (Michael), and Brian (Christie); and six grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers Ronald (Carol) and Ian, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Point Manor, Atrium Care Center, and Aspirus Hospice for the compassionate care given to Jim.

No public memorial service will be held. Memorials to Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association or the Stevens Point Green Circle Trail are welcome. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
