James “Jim” Reetz, 74

James “Jim” Reetz, age 74 of Plover, passed away Sunday morning Dec. 8, 2019, at St. Michael’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jim will be held Friday, Dec. 20 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Shuda Funeral Home, Stevens Point. Full military honors for Jim’s service in the United Staes Air Force will be held at 2:30 at Shuda’s, followed by a gathering of friends and family at Kuby’s Bar and Grill, Stevens Point.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage County Humane Society in Jim’s name.

Jim was born July 9, 1945, in Iola, the son of Orville and Evelyn (Polk) Reetz. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School, Stevens Point, Class of ‘63. He served in the United States Air Force from 1964 – 1968.

Shortly after his honorable discharge, Jim began his career at Sentry Insurance in the Information Technology Department. He retired from Sentry in 2009 after 42 years of service.

While working full time at Sentry, Jim enrolled and earned a business and a psychology degree from UWSP. This is where he met his wife, Hope Millard. They were married in May 1969 in Winchester, Wis., settling first in Stevens Point, later moving to Plover.

Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping with family and friends. In later years, he followed many sports, proudly backing the Badgers and the Packers.

Jim is survived by his wife Hope and their two children, Eric Reetz, Plover and Gina (Brent) Presley, Stevens Point; granddaughter, Astrid Presley; and two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Reetz, Utah and John Reetz, Louisiana.
