James “Jim” E. (Edward ) Kezeske, of Custer, 71, passed away late Thursday evening, April 20, 2023, at Aspirus St. Michael’s Hospital with his loving niece Kim at his side.
Jim was born on August 14, 1951, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Sylvia (née Witkowski) Kezeske. He attended local grade schools graduating from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1969.
Upon his graduation, Jim worked for the Copps Corp/ Roundy’s Food for many years. In 2012 Jim took over Sylvia’s Bar and Store in Polonia, which his parents started in 1949. This was to be Jim’s passion. He loved decorating the bar and store for every holiday, including Christmas, Fourth of July, and Halloween. He cherished all his friendships with each of his customers, and appreciated their patronage to the bar.
He was also proud to sponsor both a men and ladies pool team to represent Sylvia’s. His relationship with his niece Kim was most important to him, as she helped him with working at Sylvia’s and also going to church picnics and other events together.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Jim’s name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his niece Kim (Kevin) Trelka of Custer, his sister-in-law Cheryl DeKay, and his God children Kelly (Kluck) Johnson, Jenna Repinski, and Jason Lepak, and other nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Larry.
