Jaimy Jaye Shanklin, 58
Jaimy Jaye Shanklin, of Nelsonville, passed away at home on Sept. 2, 2024, at the age of 58.
She was born on April 25, 1966, in Racine, the daughter of the late William and Nancy (née Ward) Shanklin. An only child, Jaimy grew up with cousins who became her first friends. She developed a passion for animals at an early age, especially horses, and spent much of her childhood outdoors. She graduated from Union Grove High School in 1984.
Jaimy’s adventurous spirit led her to explore various careers, including veterinary assistant, bank teller, airport check-in clerk, and automotive painter. She eventually met Jack Polski, her life partner, and in 1998 they welcomed their first daughter, Anji, followed by Ashlie in 2000.
Known for her outgoing personality, Jaimy loved making people laugh and being the life of the party. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting gemstones, and rescuing animals. She also had a creative side, writing poems and stories, painting, and drawing. Among her proudest achievements was owning a 1979 Chevrolet Camaro.
Jaimy is survived by her life partner, Jack Polski; her daughters, Anji (Michael Basinski) Polski and Ashlie (Colton Raschka) Polski; her closest friends, Joseph Overberg and Raymond Wallace; and her cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Hebert and Floy Ward, and George and Miney Shanklin; and several aunts and uncles.
