Hunter safety class offered in Amherst

AMHERST — The Portage County Sheriff’s Office will offer an in-person Hunter Safety class at the Jensen Center, 487 N. Main St., Amherst.

The class sessions are scheduled for Aug. 5, 6, 8, and 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. each day. A field day will take place at the Dewey Shooting Range on Aug. 10 from 8 to 11 a.m.

The course fee is $10, and it is open to individuals aged 11 and older. Interested participants must register through Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website at https://gowild.wi.gov/customers/safetyedclass.

Registrants need a unique DNR customer ID number, which can be obtained by creating a new account on the Go Wild webpage if not already available.
