Groups rally against mandatory vaccinations

By Patrick Lynn

A group called Wisconsin United for Freedom has sent a letter to President Joe Biden and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers opposing mandatory vaccines for the COVID-19 virus.

The group said it had received “an alarming number of private messages, emails, and phone calls from working professionals” in the healthcare and other industries with concerns about forced vaccinations.

“They are seeking help in fighting for one of their most basic freedoms: control over their own bodies,” The group said in a Wednesday press release. “We are standing for nearly 4,000 of them, some of who are afraid to come forward for fear of retribution, so hear us clearly that we firmly oppose [mandates].”

In its letter, the group opposes vaccine mandates of any kind, including those from employers, college institutions, and school districts, for adults and children. The group also opposed SARS-CoV2 vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, policies that include segregation and discrimination based on vaccination status, and the release of private medical information, such as vaccine status.

The group has been trying to contact Evers’ office since May to discuss their concerns, but it has been “brushed aside,” the news release said.

“We hear you loud and clear. You do not care,” the letter reads in part. “You do not care about our rights over our own bodies, our concerns, or our jobs. You do not care about our frontline workers, or respect their right to bodily autonomy. It is truly a tragedy that it has come to this—but we are telling you today, we will not back down from this fight.”
