Grace M. Lensmire

Grace M. Lensmire was called to final rest on February 22, 2021, in St. Johns, Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Stevens Point, WI on March 13, 2021. Rev. Todd Mlsna will officiate. Burial will be held at Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share memories from 9:30 until the time of services on Saturday at Church.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral mass will be limited but the visitation prior is open to the public.

Grace was born October 10, 1922, in Stratford, Wis. to Alphonse and Pauline (Weber) Kaiser. On June 14, 1944, she married Warren J. Lensmire at St. John Church in Edgar, Wis. She held several jobs in business prior to becoming an administrative assistant at Wood County Teachers College. She later became Director of CAP Services (1966) in Stevens Point. Starting in 1971, she partnered with her 2 sons in several ventures: beef cattle ranching, hydroponic agriculture, Lensmire’s Greenhouse and Garden Center and

The Flower Shop at SentryWorld. She retired in 1983, splitting time between Wisconsin and Florida for 37 years.

Grace believed in giving of her time and talents. She served on the Catholic Women’s Deanery Board, the LaCrosse Diocesan Church Council, and the Campaign for Human Development. She was active in her parish church serving as a lector, minister of communion, choir member, and CCD teacher. Community service included leadership in Girl Scouts and 4-H as well as serving on boards for St. Michaels Hospital, WI Community Action, WI Regional Medical Advisory, and the State of Wisconsin Licensing Board.

She was an accomplished seamstress, as well as an oil painting and watercolor artist. Her hobbies included extensive traveling, reading, cooking, and gardening. She enjoyed designing and building five of their family homes.

She is survived by 5 children Mary (Rod) Sobczak, Paula Craig, Richard (Christina) Lensmire, Warren (Nancy) Lensmire, and Lisa (Dan) Murman, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and was blessed with meeting her first great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by sisters, Melanie Krebsbach, Anna Mae Rasmussen and Margie Krautkramer, and in-laws Winnifred Kaiser, John (Lynn) Lensmire, Joan (Lawrence) Wirkus, and 108 nieces and nephews.

Grace is predeceased by her husband Warren, parents, and siblings and in-laws Oliver (Cyrilla) Kaiser, Melvin (Elizabeth) Kaiser, Ralph (Martha) Kaiser, Virgil Kaiser, Dorothy (Joe) Wenzel, Rose Marie (Chet) Cegeilski, Ray Krebsbach, Claude Krautkramer, Cliff Rasmussen, Mae (Lee) Gliniecki, and Calvin (Alvina) Lensmire.
