Goerke softball field could get new pavilion
By Patrick Lynn
A new pavilion may be coming to Goerke Park.
Point Fastpitch will approach the Stevens Point Plan Commission on June 3 seeking permission to construct the new shelter on the northwest side of the baseball fields, near the park’s concession stand.
Because the site is located on city property, a conditional use permit is required.
The pavilion will provide shelter from sun and rain, according to the request, and house two large picnic tables for seating.
The proposed design includes a sidewalk to allow access for those with disabilities, according to the request.
Point Fastpitch League holds summer tournament play and winter clinics for girls ages 6-18. The league plays at Goerke and Zenoff parks.
The plan commission meets at 6 p.m. on June 3 in the Community Room of the Stevens Point Police Department, 933 Michigan Ave. The public is welcome to attend.
