Glen R. “Seal” Sill, 83
Glen R. “Seal” Sill, 83, of Almond, died peacefully on Dec. 31, 2024, at Whispering Pines, surrounded by his family and the love of his life.
He was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Milwaukee to the late Edward and Dorothy (née Kalies) Sill. As a boy, Glen was especially close to his aunt and uncle, spending as much time with them as he could.
Glen began his career as an automobile upholsterer, becoming well-known for his work on classic cars. He had a talent for automotive repairs and passed his knowledge on to his children and grandchildren, teaching them “Mechanics 101.” In recent years, his lessons involved more observation and guidance. Over the years, Glen taught his children patience, kindness, understanding, and the value of a smile.
He married Doloris “Bonnie” (née Wallace) on May 22, 1971, in Waukegan, Ill. Glen was a devoted husband and father who found joy in teasing his daughters, often telling each other, “You’re my favorite daughter, but don’t tell your sisters.” He gave nicknames to some of his daughters: Kimberlin, “Slim Kim the Banana Girl”; Naomi, “The Little Girl Who Found My Wallet”; Mandy, “Handy Mandy”; and Ebony, “Spoiled with Chocolate Milk Snooky.” His grandchildren fondly remember him for his “longest shortcuts known to man.” Glen was always available to offer a listening ear, helping hand or comforting shoulder.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles with Bonnie and, later in life, taking peaceful car rides together. He taught himself to play the harmonica and guitar, making it a tradition to call family and friends on their birthdays and play “Happy Birthday” on the harmonica.
Glen also enjoyed building projects, model trains, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered for his kindhearted personality and his talent for conversation. He never met a stranger and made it his mission to bring a smile to someone’s face every day.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; three sons, Steve (Lorri) Sill, William (Laura) Sill and Todd Worzalla; five daughters, Theresa Preheim, Kimberlin (Kip) Barden, Naomi (Chris) Knudtson, Mandy (Dave) Sill, and Ebony (Pete) Groshek; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother and close friend, Bruce Heron; his cat, Therapy; his beloved dog, D.O.G.; and many friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond A. Sill; three sons, Daniel A. Worzalla, Gari J. Worzalla, and Shawn P. Worzalla; and several other loved ones.
Glen’s family extends heartfelt thanks to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, St. Croix Hospice, the University of Wisconsi,n and Shuda Funeral Chapel for their care and support. A special thanks also goes to the staff at Whispering Pines in Plover for making it possible for Glen to spend his final moments with Bonnie and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
A memorial service for Glen will be held at a later date.
