Gerald “Jerry” J. Basinski, 81

“Jerry” J. Basinski, 81, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Stevens Point to the late Leo and Johanna (Wrycza) Basinski. He spent his entire life in Rosholt, Wis., and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1960.

On Oct. 3, 1964, Jerry married Helen Wysocki at St. Mary’s Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. Together, they were blessed with three children: Kurt, Karl, and Christine “Tina.” Jerry took over the family farm from his parents, ensuring it remained in the Basinski family for over 100 years. He dedicated his life to farming, transitioning from a dairy operation to a small-scale potato farm. He cherished working the fields with his John Deere tractors, often with the help of his grandsons.

Jerry enjoyed fishing with family and friends, watching the Brewers, and riding through the fields on his four-wheeler.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Helen; his sons, Kurt (Sara) Basinski and Karl (Dawn) Basinski; his daughter, Tina (Wade) Brandl; his grandchildren, Krista (Cody) Tesch, Dylan Basinski, Michael (Anji Polski) Basinski, Jeremy (Emily) Brandl, Jenna (Justin Schmeltzer) Brandl, Alex Basinski; and his three great-granddaughters, Austyn and Bryanna Tesch, and Hadley Brandl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

A private family service for Jerry will be held at a later date. Shuda Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
