Gary “Dewey” L. Perron, 75

Gary “Dewey” L. Perron, of Rosholt, passed away surrounded by loved ones at home on January 11, 2023, at the age of 75.

Dewey was born December 23, 1947, to Clifford and Evelyn (Clum) Perron in Troy, New York.

As a young man, Dewey met Barbara Zblewski and the two knew they wanted to spend their lives with one another. Dewey and Barbara were married on April 14, 1973, at St. Adalbert Parish in Rosholt and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April. Together, they raised six children. To support his family, Dewey was a truck driver, driving for Stuczynski Trucking for almost 30 years.

While Dewey held numerous interests, his family was first and foremost. He devoted his life to supporting his siblings, his children, and later his grandchildren, in every way possible. When his parents passed at a young age, he took on the role of caregiver for his older brother Bob and younger brother Rick. He doted on them, especially during the holidays.

Once he became a father and grandfather, he attended kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, took interest in their activities, and encouraged their interests and hobbies. He also enjoyed researching genealogy, going for rides in the Buick with Barbara, getting breakfast with his friends and family, and always enjoying a good steak.

He was also an avid sports fan, enjoying SPASH hockey games, the Milwaukee Brewers, bowling, and softball. Dewey prided himself on always finding something in common with anyone he met.

Dewey is lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara; six children, Kris (Amy) Perron, Sarah (Todd) Pliska, Melissa (Jason) Kluck, Heather (Lyle) Eiden, Corey (Paula) Perron, and Amber (Ed) Olszewski; and 10 grandchildren, Joseph Meyer, Morgan and Tyler Kluck, Matthew, Michael, and Emily Eiden, Carter and Mason Rose, and Riley and Conner Olszewski. He is further survived by a brother, Robert “Bob” Perron; a sister, Lori Haessly; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Rick Perron; a grandson, Nicholas Eiden; and his in-laws, Stanley and Irene Zblewski.

In lieu of flowers, it was Dewey’s wish to have memorials made in his name that would benefit cancer patients and/or research.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital – Intensive Care Unit, Aspirus Oncology Department, and Promedica Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to Dewey.

To honor Dewey’s memory, a service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Rd. in Plover. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 2400 Plover Rd. in Plover, and again on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will take place at St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
