Free Fix-it Clinic aims to keep household items out of landfills

By Patrick Lynn

STEVENS POINT — Residents will have a chance to repair household items instead of throwing them away during an upcoming Fix-it Clinic hosted by Recycling Connections and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point waste management students.

The free event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the Commons Community Nonprofit Center, 2801 Hoover Rd.

Organizers say the clinic is designed to keep usable items out of landfills by offering repairs and reuse opportunities. Community members are encouraged to bring in items that need fixing, and volunteers with repair skills are also being sought.

Participants are asked to register in advance, and additional information about the clinic and how it works is available through event organizers.

Questions about the event can be directed to Connor Smith at [email protected]
or Recycling Connections Executive Director Susan Schuller at 715-343-0722.

Recycling Connections, founded in 1981 in Stevens Point, is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting waste reduction, reuse, recycling and resource conservation throughout the community.
