The League of Women Voters of the Stevens Point Area is holding a Q&A forum for candidates in the Democratic primary election.

There’s one local race on the primary ballot. Deputy Florian Chojnacki, Jr., is challenging incumbent Sheriff Mike Lukas to serve as the top elected Constitutional office in the county.

The candidate forum will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 in the Pinery Room of the main branch of the Portage Co. Public Library.

Both candidates have agreed to participate, the League said.

Under the League’s usual format, each candidate will make an opening statement, answer a series of questions from the League and the public, then make closing statements.

The League bills itself as “a political, but non-partisan organization.” The forum is open to all county residents and the League welcomes members from all political affiliations.

The fall primary election is on Aug. 9.
