Fire crews respond to SPASH

By Brandi Makuski

Stevens Point firefighters were called to SPASH on Monday night after a caller reported a small fire inside the building.

Firefighters responded with multiple vehicles to Stevens Point Area Senior High at about 9 PM. About 40 students attending activities there had already evacuated the building and were huddled together outside.

Lt. Travis Koch from SPFD said there was an initial report of a fire behind the stage in the school’s main auditorium, but the call turned out to be a false alarm.

“Until we confirm we always bring the same amount of units as if it were a real fire,” Koch said.

Koch added there were no injuries. Crews were on the scene for less than an hour.
