An event that celebrates and supports student musicians will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday, April 27.
“Experience the Music of the 60s,” the 20th annual Music Department fundraiser formerly known as Soirée Musicale, begins at 6:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. The event includes a reception with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, followed by a concert in Michelsen Hall at 7:30 p.m. and an afterglow party featuring desserts and a cash bar.
The evening highlights the talents of music faculty, students and alumni, and features music from Woodstock, the Beatles, iconic movies and more. Attire from the 1960s is encouraged.
Admission is $50 per person or $25 for UW-Stevens Point faculty, staff and students, and includes a concert, pre- and post-performance receptions. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.uwsp.edu/music/Pages/soiree.aspx or http://tickets.uwsp.edu. All proceeds fund scholarships, primarily for incoming first-year students, which enable UW-Stevens Point’s Music Department to recruit and retain some of the region’s most promising musicians. The event has raised more than $300,000 for music scholarships since its inception.
