Entrance to Iverson to close briefly

The west entrance to Iverson Park will be closed for about two hours on Tuesday.

Parks Director Dan Kremer said the closure was a “last-minute” decision on Sept. 7 by a contractor who was installing the waterline for the park’s new bathroom facilities.

The new restroom facility, at a cost of $216,000, was approved by the Parks Commission and City Council in March.

The new facility will be in the same location, near the baseball diamond on the southeast edge of the park, which is already above the city’s floodway, Kremer said told the Parks Commission earlier this year.

The project includes a new building with improved ADA accessibility, updated plumbing, and planting bed and bicycle accommodations.

Kremer said the contractor will be cutting into the asphalt to install the waterline, hence the need for the closure.
