Elsie Mielke, 85

Elsie Mielke, of Stevens Point, passed away Jan. 18, 2026, at Stevens Point Health Services, at the age of 85.

Elsie was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Stevens Point, Wis., daughter of the late Bernard and Anna (née Wysocki) Jurgella. She grew up in the area where she attended local schools and graduated from Maria High School.

On July 29, 1961, she married the love of her life, Harland Mielke. The two were blessed with 62 years of marriage until Harland’s passing in 2023. Together they welcomed two sons, Brian and Scott, and worked hard to provide a good life for them. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Her love spilled over once becoming a grandmother; she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elsie enjoyed polka music and often couldn’t help but dance when listening to it. She also enjoyed going to church picnics and the occasional trip to the casino. Above all else, her family was her greatest joy in life and she loved having them over for birthdays and holidays. Everyone enjoyed the cookouts on the deck, which included her neighbors and friends.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Brian Mielke of Stevens Point and Scott Mielke of Plover; her grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harland; and her parents, Bernard and Anna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point, Wis.
