Eleanor “GMA” Ann Duberstein, 90
Eleanor “GMA” Ann Duberstein, a lifelong resident of Stevens Point, died on July 15, 2024. She was 90.
Eleanor was born on Jan. 2, 1934, in Stevens Point to the late John and Mary (née Knapp) Lutz. She attended local schools and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1952.
While in high school, Eleanor began working for Sentry Insurance as a mail clerk. After graduating, she continued in that role for 15 years. In 1952, Eleanor went roller skating and met Richard J. Duberstein. They married on Aug. 7, 1954, and built their home in Stevens Point in 1960. Eleanor later became a homemaker, dedicating her time to caring for Richard and their daughter, Cynthia Ann, who was born on Jan. 12, 1973.
Eleanor was an active member of her faith community, participating in St. Anne’s Society and serving as a eucharistic minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Known for her creativity, Eleanor enjoyed sewing, baking, and gardening, with a special fondness for her flower beds. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching CNN to stay informed about current events. Eleanor was known for her stylish appearance, often wearing pearl earrings and beautifully painted nails. Her spunky, yet sassy, nature endeared her to many.
Eleanor cherished her time with her grandchildren, Kaiden and Hazyl, often playing games with them and sharing her beloved sayings. One of her favorite phrases was, “So long! I love you,” which she used instead of goodbye.
