Drawdown, dam inspection at Jordan Pond scheduled
Metro Wire Staff
Jordan Pond will become shallower than its seven-foot-depth soon, if only for a little while.
A full drawdown of the 84-acre pond is scheduled to begin Sept. 9 at a rate of six inches a day, part of the dam inspection that occurs every 10 years by the Portage Co. Parks Department.
Dam inspection is expected to take place Sept. 9-21, according to Parks Director Ryan Rose.
The pond will be refilled six inches at a time, Rose said, as per guidelines from the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources.
Jordan Pond is located at State Hwy. 66 and County Rd. Y in north Stevens Point and is known for panfish, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike fishing.
