Dramatic scene at Plover car fire

By Brandi Makuski

No injuries were reported following a vehicle fire that left a contractor’s truck a total loss.

Plover firefighters were called to the 400 block of Sterling Dr. at about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 after a caller reported a vehicle on fire in a residential neighborhood not far from Pointe Precision in south Plover.

When crews arrived the vehicle was completely engulfed. It took about 30 minutes for crews to ensure the fire was out.

Fire Chief Mark Deaver said a contractor was spraying texture on drywall via a hose from his truck in the home’s driveway. A neighbor noticed flames coming from the truck and called 911. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

No damage was sustained by nearby structures. The Plover Police Dept. also assisted at the scene.

The scene was cleared after about an hour.
