Dolores Mae Garrett (Ligman), 90

Dolores Mae Garrett (Ligman), born March 20, 1931, to Joseph Earl and Cecilia Ligman, in Superior WI, passed away peacefully July 1, 2021, at home under the care of hospice and surrounded by loved ones.

She lived with her daughter Julie, for the past 12 years which was filled with many fun times and laughter, and even some traveling.

She was a devoted Catholic and a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was married to Steven Garrett from July 22, 1950, until his passing in 2008.

She used to love gambling, even if it was just a scratch-off with her weekly cappuccino. Even more than coffee, she loved to knit, crochet, and do needlepoint, so much so that her nickname was “Crazy Needles.”

She would make each of her kids a Christmas ornament every year. If one of her grandchildren were expecting a baby, she would make them a baby blanket, sweater, or a hat and booties. But, above all that she loved in this world, the most important thing to her was…family!!

She is survived by her four children, three sons: Dan (Linda) Garrett; Gregg (Cathy) Garrett; Michael Garrett; and one daughter: Julie (Dan) Kowalski. Her two brothers: Lawrence and Terry Ligman; one sister: Jolene Lee.

She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

She was proceeded by her loving husband Steven Garrett; daughter Cindy Garrett; sister Maxine; grandson Isiah Garrett, and daughter-in-law Linda Garrett.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends and family will gather to share memories at the Plover/Shuda Funeral Home in Plover, Thursday, July 8 from 5-7 p.m. A general rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. at Shuda’s in Plover.
