DNR to hold class for fishing mentors

Pass on your love of fishing by becoming an Angler Education Instructor, certified through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The class is open to fishing club members, youth leaders, classroom teachers, community center staff, and civic leaders who are encouraged to attend as a team or form a team at the workshop.
The training will certify attendees as Angler Education Instructors, a provide tips and materials to lead fishing programs. The class will also go fishing to do some practice teaching.
Successful program models include adult education, community fishing outings, meet-ups for young adults, after-school fishing clubs, summer enrichment classes, day camps, school-family events, and helping scouts earn merit badges.
The class will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center, N194 County Rd. N, in Wisconsin Dells.
The workshop is free, but registration confirms attendance. Anyone canceling needs to contact please contact the program director immediately.
The registration deadline is Monday, Dec. 5. The registration process consists of:
- Angler Education Instructor Workshop Registration Form, Participant Agreement and Photo Release Form
- Mentor Background Check
