Metro Wire Staff

The Portage County Deputy Sheriffs Association last week announced a new college scholarship program for graduating seniors.

Applications are now being accepted from seniors at any high school in Portage Co.

“All applicants will be considered, but those pursuing careers in criminal justice or related public service fields will be given higher consideration,” a news release from the sheriff’s office reads in part.

Applicants must attend a high school in Portage Co., have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and provide a copy of their high school transcripts.

Applications must be received by March 22 to be considered.
