Deputies seek suspect from Rudolph armed robbery

The Wood Co. Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an armed robbery suspect.

Eugene “Gene” K. Schmidt, age 58, is believed to have been involved in an armed robbery at The Food Tree in Rudolph, just over the Portage Co. line. The robbery occurred on Feb. 12.

Schmidt is described as a white male, 6’1″ 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous, according to a news release from WCSO.

“Eugene, we know you will read this because you are scared and hiding from law enforcement,” the news release reads in part. “Please turn yourself in to local law enforcement and be an adult by facing your consequences for the dangerous actions you took.”
